- Acerinox reported 162 million euros in net profit for the first nine months of 2026.
- Third-quarter EBITDA reached 199 million euros, while management expects lower fourth-quarter EBITDA because of seasonal US demand.
- A heat pump and thermal storage project with IGNIS is scheduled to start in December 2028.
Acerinox reported a sharp improvement in profitability for the first nine months of 2026, while a separate energy project put long-term efficiency in focus. The company stock traded at 14.96 euros on Lang & Schwarz at 11:56 CET on Saturday, November 7, 2026.
Profit recovery led by US operations
In its October 30 results release, Acerinox said net profit reached 162 million euros between January and September, compared with 7 million euros a year earlier. Cumulative EBITDA rose 46 percent to 470 million euros, and third-quarter EBITDA increased 13 percent from the second quarter to 199 million euros.
North American Stainless remained the main earnings pillar, according to the company. Acerinox also said European stainless-steel imports had fallen 42 percent in the first nine months, while the recovery in local consumption remained slower than expected.
Management expects fourth-quarter EBITDA to decline from the third-quarter level as typical year-end seasonality weighs on US stainless-steel activity. The company also identified working-capital reduction and financial discipline as priorities for the rest of the year.
Energy project targets lower emissions
Acerinox and IGNIS are developing a heat pump and thermal storage system at the Campo de Gibraltar plant. The project is scheduled to come online in December 2028 and is designed to avoid 18,500 tons of carbon dioxide emissions annually, equal to a 10 percent reduction, according to Acerinox.
The installation combines a 12 thermal MW industrial heat pump with a 120 MWh thermal battery. IGNIS is to cover an investment of nearly 40 million euros, with 19.3 million euros in grants through Spain's IDAE and European Regional Development Fund financing. Economy Digital separately reported that the group had accumulated nearly 31 million euros in public grants through October 2026, including the IGNIS-related projects.
For investors, the earnings recovery improves the near-term operating picture, but the expected fourth-quarter slowdown leaves US demand and seasonal effects as important variables. The energy project offers a longer-term efficiency and emissions angle rather than an immediate earnings contribution.
