- First-nine-month value of new business rose despite a weaker third quarter.
- Growth outside Hong Kong and mainland China helped cushion regional declines.
- AIA expects comparison effects to support fourth-quarter momentum.
AIA Group reported a softer third quarter but a sharp September recovery, giving investors a more constructive signal for the final quarter. According to the AIA Group press release, value of new business rose 5 percent to US$4.627 billion in the first nine months of 2026.
AIA Group stock traded at 8.88 euros on Lang & Schwarz at 15:16 CET on Thursday, November 5, 2026, 1.70 percent below the Xetra close of Wednesday, November 4. The quote was 1.60 percent above the 8.74 euros recorded in the previous relevant report on November 4.
High comparisons weigh on quarterly growth
Third-quarter value of new business fell 5 percent to US$1.415 billion at constant exchange rates. Hong Kong declined 3 percent, while mainland China fell 33 percent as both markets faced exceptionally strong prior-year comparisons.
The quarterly decline was partly offset by an 18 percent increase across AIA's other reportable segments. Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand and additional Asian markets contributed to a broader regional performance that remained positive outside the two largest businesses.
September points to stronger fourth quarter
Group value of new business returned to growth of more than 25 percent year over year in September. In Hong Kong, value of new business increased 20 percent across August and September combined, while agency business in mainland China also regained momentum.
The new-business margin rose 5.3 percentage points to 63.5 percent, supported by product and channel mix in mainland China. AIA said it expects strong fourth-quarter momentum as the comparison effects normalise and reiterated that it expects to exceed its 9 to 11 percent operating profit after-tax per-share compound annual growth target for 2023 through 2026.
The real-time quote of AIA Group stock remains a reference point for investors tracking whether the September improvement carries into the next reporting period.
The broader Euro Stoxx 50 market provides the relevant regional context for European trading.
