- Airbnb will direct 0.10 US dollars from each stay to Airbnb.org without reducing host payouts or increasing guest prices.
- The nonprofit targets 500 million US dollars in support over five years and 1 million free emergency-housing nights annually by 2030.
- Airbnb.org is expanding beyond disaster response to medical travel, domestic-violence survivors and military veterans facing serious illness.
Airbnb announced on October 28 that it will allocate part of its revenue from every stay to Airbnb.org, its independent nonprofit for free emergency housing. The company said the initiative will support up to 500 million US dollars for the nonprofit over the next five years.
According to Airbnb, the contribution is 0.10 US dollars per stay. Guests will not pay more and hosts will receive their usual payouts. The contribution does not cover canceled stays before check-in, experiences or services.
Airbnb.org aims to provide 1 million nights of free emergency housing each year by 2030. The nonprofit has provided more than 1.6 million nights since its creation and responded to more than 200 disasters in 2026, compared with eight in 2023, according to the company.
Funding model broadens Airbnb.org reach
The expanded program is intended to support families traveling for medical care in more than 20 countries, survivors of domestic violence and exploitation, and US military veterans facing serious illness or intensive treatment. Airbnb said it covers Airbnb.org's operating costs and does not make money from the nonprofit's emergency stays.
