- Airbus increased nine-month revenue and adjusted EBIT while leaving its 2026 targets unchanged.
- Commercial aircraft deliveries and the order backlog underline continued demand, but free cash flow remained negative.
- A new A350 component-support venture with Air France-KLM expands Airbus' aftermarket offering.
Airbus reported stronger revenue for the first nine months of 2026 on Wednesday, October 28, while keeping its full-year targets unchanged. The company said revenue rose 7 percent year on year to 50.6 billion euros, with adjusted EBIT up 8 percent to 4.5 billion euros, according to the Airbus results release.
Airbus delivered 547 commercial aircraft through September, compared with 507 a year earlier. Net commercial aircraft orders reached 1,105, while the backlog stood at 9,310 aircraft at the end of September. The company continues to target around 870 commercial aircraft deliveries, adjusted EBIT of around 7.5 billion euros and free cash flow before customer financing of around 4.5 billion euros for 2026.
Growth meets cash flow pressure
The results also showed execution risks. Third-quarter revenue declined 2 percent to 17.5 billion euros, while quarterly adjusted EBIT fell 9 percent to 1.8 billion euros. Airbus attributed the pressure mainly to lower commercial aircraft deliveries and an unfavorable mix. Free cash flow before customer financing was negative 1.3 billion euros for the nine-month period, reflecting working-capital effects, inventory build-up and planned business ramp-ups.
On the services side, Airbus and Air France-KLM finalized Alpha Component Solutions on October 28. The 50-50 joint venture will provide component assets, maintenance, supply-chain management and repair services for A350 customers. It already contractually supports more than 500 aircraft, according to the Airbus announcement.
Airbus stock traded at 191.00 euros on Lang & Schwarz at 10:00 CEST on Saturday, October 31, 0.75 percent below the Xetra close of Friday, October 30. Over the week, the Xetra close edged up 0.03 percent from 192.38 euros on Friday, October 23, to 192.44 euros on Friday, October 30.
