- AIXTRON's third-quarter order intake more than doubled year on year as AI data-center demand lifted optoelectronics bookings.
- The company confirmed its 2026 revenue and margin targets while pointing to stronger growth in 2027.
- Power-electronics orders showed early recovery signals, although formal 2027 financial guidance is still pending.
AIXTRON reported strong third-quarter results on Thursday, October 29, 2026, as demand for equipment used in AI data-center communications drove a sharp increase in orders. The company confirmed its 2026 targets and said current trends support a strong growth year in 2027. The Deutsche Boerse release said equipment demand for laser applications in AI data-center communications was the main driver.
AIXTRON stock traded at 33.48 euros on Lang & Schwarz at 10:39 CET on Wednesday, November 4, 2026, 2.16 percent below the Xetra close of Tuesday, November 3. Investors can follow the real-time quote of Aixtron stock throughout the session.
AI demand drives order momentum
Third-quarter order intake rose 122 percent year on year to 274.9 million euros, compared with 124.0 million euros a year earlier. Optoelectronics represented about 68 percent of equipment orders, reflecting demand for optical connectivity in expanding AI data-center networks. Power electronics accounted for 24 percent and showed signs of improvement after a prolonged period of weaker demand.
Revenue reached 183.6 million euros, up 54 percent from 119.6 million euros in the year-earlier quarter and within the company's quarterly target range. Gross profit increased 88 percent to 87.3 million euros, while gross margin expanded to 48 percent from 39 percent. EBIT rose to 56.7 million euros from 15.4 million euros, lifting the EBIT margin to 31 percent from 13 percent.
Backlog supports the next cycle
Equipment order backlog stood at 549.4 million euros at September 30, compared with 286.5 million euros a year earlier. AIXTRON said the backlog provides revenue visibility well into 2027, with indium-phosphide optical applications representing the majority. Management expects AI infrastructure investment to continue supporting demand for high-speed optical interconnects.
For 2026, AIXTRON kept its revenue target at 560 million euros plus or minus 30 million euros. The company continues to target a gross margin of about 42 percent and an EBIT margin between 17 percent and 20 percent. It expects order intake to remain at a high level or increase further in coming quarters as optoelectronics demand stays strong and power electronics gains momentum.
Management has not issued formal 2027 financial targets. AIXTRON plans to provide those figures with its full-year 2026 results on March 4, 2027. For investors, the central question is whether the current order strength can be converted into revenue as production capacity and supply-chain output continue to expand.
