- AI-related optical demand drove a sharp increase in third-quarter orders and lifted visibility into 2027.
- Quarterly EBIT rose strongly as product mix and operating leverage supported profitability.
- Management kept its 2026 revenue and margin targets unchanged.
- Formal 2027 guidance is scheduled with the full-year results on March 4, 2027.
AIXTRON SE reported a sharp rise in third-quarter orders on Thursday, October 29, as demand for equipment used in AI data-center communications accelerated. The company's Q3 release, published by EQS News, said order intake rose 122 percent year over year to 274.9 million euros.
What Has Changed Since Our Last Report
The latest update adds a clearer view of quarterly profitability. Revenue increased 54 percent to 183.6 million euros, while gross profit rose 88 percent to 87.3 million euros. EBIT reached 56.7 million euros, lifting the EBIT margin to 31 percent from 13 percent in the prior-year quarter.
AIXTRON said the result benefited from higher revenue, product and regional mix, and operating leverage. The first nine months also included mid-single-digit million-euro one-off expenses linked to a personnel reduction in operations, a factor investors should separate from recurring performance.
AI Orders Extend Visibility
Equipment backlog stood at 549.4 million euros at September 30, compared with 286.5 million euros a year earlier. InP-based optical components remained the main demand driver, supported by AI data-center investment. The company also cited improving customer utilization and new capacity activity as early signs of a recovery in gallium-nitride and silicon-carbide power electronics.
Management confirmed 2026 revenue guidance of 560 million euros plus or minus 30 million euros, a gross margin of about 42 percent and an EBIT margin of 17 to 20 percent. Formal 2027 financial guidance is planned with the full-year results on March 4, 2027.
