Alibaba stock expands European cloud footprint with Amsterdam region

Alibaba Cloud opened its first public cloud region in the Netherlands on Thursday, October 29, 2026, bringing two Amsterdam data centers online. The launch was announced at Alibaba Cloud's International Apsara Conference in Amsterdam and expands the group's infrastructure for European cloud and artificial intelligence customers.
Techzine Global reports that the Amsterdam region is Alibaba Cloud's fourth European location after Frankfurt, London and Paris. The company is targeting businesses that want data processed and stored in the Netherlands or elsewhere within Europe, while citing lower latency and improved disaster recovery as additional benefits.
Cloud and AI services broaden
The region offers elastic computing, storage, containers, networking, big data, security, database and cloud-native services. Alibaba Cloud is also introducing five agentic AI services, including tools for isolated agent environments, security monitoring, risk detection and intelligent operations.
Alibaba Cloud executive Feifei Li said the region responds to demand from local companies building and scaling with AI. The launch also includes an updated Apsara Stack hybrid-cloud product with more than 80 cloud and AI products for on-premises use in regulated industries such as finance, telecommunications and the public sector.
