Growth Meets Cost Pressure
Quarterly diluted earnings per share rose 14 percent to $2.10. Net income reached $30.711 billion, compared with $27.466 billion in the year-ago quarter. Gross margin was 47.9 percent, although tariff refunds contributed approximately one percentage point to the margin and $0.05 to diluted earnings per share.
iPhone revenue rose 17 percent to $57.6 billion, setting a September-quarter record. Services revenue reached $31.6 billion, an all-time quarterly high, while Mac revenue increased to $10.8 billion despite supply constraints. Apple said its installed base of active devices also reached a new record across major product categories and geographic segments.
The results capped Apple's strongest fiscal year, with full-year revenue of $478.8 billion and diluted earnings per share of $8.98. Revenue increased 15 percent year over year, while annual diluted EPS rose 20 percent. Operating cash flow reached $28 billion in the quarter, supporting the company's capital returns.
Holiday Outlook Raises Stakes
Chief Executive Officer John Ternus said Apple's latest product lineup, including the iPhone Duo, iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max, is positioned for the holiday season. The company also highlighted new home hardware, Touch on Mac and the all-new Siri AI as part of its current offering.
For the December quarter, Apple expects revenue to grow between 7 and 10 percent from a year earlier. Services growth is expected at 8 to 9 percent. Gross margin is forecast at 45 to 46 percent as higher memory costs and spending linked to Siri AI pressure profitability. The outlook gives investors a stronger sales framework but a less favorable near-term margin setup.
The board declared a quarterly dividend of $0.27 per share. Payment is scheduled for November 16, 2026, to shareholders of record at the close of business on November 12.
The broader US market remains the relevant backdrop for investors following the S&P 500.
