Astra International stock stays in focus after resilient nine-month earnings. Automotive and finance growth offset weaker mining results.

Core earnings offset mining weakness

  • Underlying nine-month net income held broadly stable as automotive and financial services earnings increased.
  • Mining solutions and heavy equipment remained the main drag, although third-quarter performance improved.
  • Astra continues its share buyback program and is pursuing a tender offer for Astra Otoparts.

Astra International reported resilient operating performance for the nine months ended September 30, 2026, despite a decline in reported profit caused by non-recurring items. In its October 28 financial release, the company said nine-month revenue was stable while underlying earnings remained resilient.

Reported net income fell 12 percent to IDR 21.6 trillion, while net income excluding non-recurring items declined 1 percent to IDR 24.6 trillion. The company attributed the gap mainly to impairment and fair-value adjustments totaling IDR 3.0 trillion, compared with IDR 244 billion a year earlier.

Automotive and finance provide support

Automotive net income rose 8 percent to IDR 9.8 trillion. Astra said higher vehicle volumes and stronger component contributions supported the increase, with its overall Indonesian automotive market share at 49 percent.

Financial services net income increased 6 percent to IDR 7.2 trillion. Net consumer-financing receivables rose 6 percent to IDR 132.0 trillion from December 2025, while new financing increased 8 percent to IDR 92.5 trillion.

Mining remains the main drag

Underlying earnings from mining solutions and heavy equipment fell 28 percent to IDR 5.1 trillion. Lower gold sales after the temporary Martabe production stoppage, reduced coal volumes and lower national coal-production quotas weighed on the segment. Astra said third-quarter performance improved 15 percent year over year as mining-contract volumes increased and Martabe production resumed.

Mining-related non-recurring items of IDR 2.2 trillion pushed reported segment earnings down 59 percent to IDR 2.9 trillion. Komatsu sales declined 17 percent to 3,000 units, while coal sales fell 23 percent to 7.1 million tonnes.

Capital allocation stays active

Astra said it completed a share buyback worth IDR 10.0 trillion between November 2025 and September 2026. An additional Astra buyback worth IDR 8.0 trillion remains in progress, while the company is conducting a voluntary tender offer for up to 4.95 percent of Astra Otoparts at IDR 3,600 per share. If fully completed, Astra's stake in Astra Otoparts would rise from 80 percent to 84.95 percent.

The real-time quote of Astra International stock shows the stock traded at 0.24 euros on Lang & Schwarz at 10:39 CET on Tuesday, November 3, 2026.

Investors will focus on whether the mining recovery continues in the fourth quarter while automotive and financial-services growth supports group earnings. Astra said it plans to maintain operating efficiency, a strong balance sheet and selective investment.
