- Bajaj Finance expanded assets under management and customer activity in the September quarter.
- Gross and net non-performing asset ratios improved year over year.
- A proposed capital raise remains relevant for the lender's growth plans.
Bajaj Finance reported a 29 percent year-on-year increase in consolidated profit after tax to INR 6,367 crore for the quarter ended September 2026. Moneycontrol reported the result on November 3 and highlighted the lending subsidiary's contribution to Bajaj Finserv's quarterly performance.
Growth remains broad based
Net total income rose 23 percent to INR 15,974 crore, while assets under management increased 26 percent to INR 5.84 lakh crore as of September 30, 2026. Bajaj Finance added 4.42 million customers during the quarter and booked 13.45 million new loans.
Loan losses and provisions rose 4 percent to INR 2,166 crore, including management and macroeconomic provisions of INR 337 crore. The increase was smaller than the expansion in income, leaving growth and credit costs as key indicators for investors to monitor.
Asset quality improves
Gross non-performing assets declined to 1.06 percent from 1.24 percent a year earlier. Net non-performing assets fell to 0.42 percent from 0.60 percent, while the capital adequacy ratio stood at 20.33 percent at the end of September.
The company is also seeking fresh capital through a QIP and preferential warrants, subject to the required approvals. The planned funding is relevant to the pace at which Bajaj Finance can continue expanding its balance sheet, although the final terms and approvals remain important for shareholders.
