Bayer stock heads into the weekend after stronger Pharmaceuticals results prompted higher 2026 targets. Litigation still weighs on cash flow.

Pharma drives outlook improvement

  • Bayer raised its 2026 adjusted EBITDA and free cash flow outlooks after stronger third-quarter performance.
  • Pharmaceuticals led growth, while litigation payments continued to weigh on cash generation.
  • Reuters reported that Bayer expects a proposed Roundup settlement to receive court approval before Christmas.

Bayer raised several 2026 targets after reporting stronger third-quarter operating performance on Tuesday, November 3. The company said Pharmaceuticals led the improvement, while legal payments continued to burden cash generation. Bayer stock traded at 55.31 euros on Lang & Schwarz at 11:26 CET on Saturday, November 7, 0.49 percent below the Xetra close of Friday, November 6.

Bayer reported third-quarter group sales of 10.053 billion euros, up 4.1 percent on a reported basis. EBITDA before special items rose 6.9 percent to 1.615 billion euros. Pharmaceuticals generated sales of 4.680 billion euros, with adjusted EBITDA up 23.6 percent to 1.292 billion euros.

Higher targets, persistent cash pressure

Bayer lifted its 2026 group EBITDA outlook to between 9.8 billion and 10.3 billion euros from 9.6 billion to 10.1 billion euros previously. The free cash flow range improved to between minus 1.5 billion and minus 0.5 billion euros, while expected year-end net financial debt fell to between 28 billion and 29 billion euros.

The stronger outlook does not remove the main balance-sheet risk. Free cash flow was minus 293 million euros in the quarter, partly because of settlement payments, and net income was minus 672 million euros after impairment losses. Bayer also raised its Pharmaceuticals EBITDA margin outlook to between 25 percent and 27 percent from 23 percent to 25 percent.

Litigation remains a key catalyst

Reuters reported on November 3 that Bayer expects court approval of a proposed 7.25 billion US dollar Roundup settlement before Christmas. A decision would be a significant legal milestone, but the report also noted that Bayer continues to face many claims.

Investors will therefore weigh improving pharmaceutical profitability against litigation cash demands and debt. The next focus is whether the stronger Pharma trajectory can persist while Bayer executes its settlement and balance-sheet plans.
