- BMW posted third-quarter revenue of 30.452 billion euros as group net profit declined year on year.
- Strong demand for Neue Klasse models is prompting faster production expansion and earlier phase-outs of selected older technologies.
- China remained a major drag, while Europe and the United States delivered growth in the quarter.
BMW Group's third-quarter release on Wednesday, November 4, 2026, combined a resilient operating quarter with a sharper restructuring plan. In its BMW Group newsroom release, the company said the measures will weigh on fourth-quarter earnings in the Automotive segment.
The real-time quote of BMW stock stood at 61.22 euros on Lang & Schwarz at 18:01 CET on Thursday, November 5, 2026, 0.20 percent below the Xetra close of Thursday, November 5. Compared with the 58.49-euro quote in our previous report at 10:03 CET on November 4, the stock was 4.67 percent higher.
Guidance absorbs restructuring costs
BMW lowered its reported 2026 Automotive EBIT margin range to minus 0.5 percent to plus 0.5 percent from 1 percent to 3 percent. Before portfolio and structural measures, management still expects the operating margin to exceed 2.0 percent. The company maintained its Automotive free-cash-flow target above 2.5 billion euros.
The additional measures are expected to reduce the Automotive margin by about 2.5 percentage points in 2026. BMW also expects automotive deliveries to decline moderately year on year and Automotive return on capital employed to range from minus 1 percent to plus 1 percent.
Neue Klasse drives the next phase
BMW delivered 551,075 vehicles in the third quarter, down 6.3 percent from a year earlier. Revenue fell 5.8 percent to 30.452 billion euros, while group net profit declined 14.7 percent to 1.448 billion euros. The Automotive EBIT margin was 3.4 percent.
Demand for Neue Klasse models has led BMW to add production shifts and bring forward the phase-out of selected older vehicle and technology generations. The company expects Gen6 technology, lower complexity and faster organizational changes to support profitability over time.
China sales fell by a quarter in the quarter, while deliveries rose in Europe and the United States. Fully electric vehicles represented one-fifth of group sales, and electrified vehicles including plug-in hybrids accounted for 27.4 percent.
