- Bombardier is positioning its aerospace and defence expertise for possible future government-backed programs.
Bombardier and BAE Systems signed a memorandum of understanding on October 28, 2026, to explore cooperation on next-generation combat-air programs. The agreement broadens Bombardier's defence positioning but does not announce a specific aircraft program.
Cooperation covers several capabilities
A StockTitan report carrying the GlobeNewswire release says the companies will identify potential cooperation in research and development, systems integration, workforce and supply-chain development, industrialization and in-service lifecycle management.
The framework is exploratory. Bombardier and BAE Systems will first assess opportunities against future capability requirements, government priorities and industrial objectives. That leaves the commercial scope, timing and financial contribution of any later program open.
Defence strategy gains another option
Bombardier said its aircraft engineering, advanced manufacturing and defence-integration capabilities could support future air-combat requirements. BAE Systems brings experience in combat-air design, systems integration, manufacturing and support. The partnership therefore creates a potential route into wider defence work without representing a contracted order.
