- La Trobe Financial's assets under management rose to A$27 billion from A$22 billion at the end of 2025.
Brookfield Asset Management stock traded at 43.37 euros on Lang & Schwarz at 11:10:58 CET on Friday, October 30, 2026. The company is retaining majority ownership of La Trobe Financial after agreeing to bring Canadian pension plan OMERS into the Australian alternative asset manager.
La Trobe Financial announced the transaction on Tuesday, October 27, saying OMERS had agreed to acquire an indirect minority interest from Brookfield. The announcement did not disclose the purchase price or the size of the stake. Completion remains subject to customary regulatory approvals and is expected by January 2027.
OMERS joins La Trobe ownership
The deal adds OMERS to an institutional shareholder group that already includes Brookfield and Axight. La Trobe said its management team, strategy, investment philosophy and the way investor funds are managed will not change after completion.
OMERS had C$151.5 billion in net assets, according to the La Trobe Financial announcement. The pension plan's investment gives Brookfield another long-term institutional partner while allowing it to keep control of the business.
La Trobe Financial said assets under management reached A$27 billion, up from A$22 billion at the end of 2025. Since Brookfield acquired the business in 2022, La Trobe has expanded its product range with a US private credit product and a listed investment trust on the Australian Securities Exchange. It has also invested in systems intended to deepen investor engagement, improve client service and increase operating efficiency.
La Trobe Chief Executive Chris Andrews described the OMERS investment as a vote of confidence in the platform and said the partnership would support the company's strategy. He also highlighted the combined institutional shareholder base and La Trobe's focus on outcomes for investors and borrowers, disciplined capital management and further investment in products and capabilities.
For Brookfield Asset Management investors, the transaction reinforces the firm's role as a capital partner and active owner in alternative assets. The immediate financial contribution cannot be assessed from the announcement because the deal terms were not released. The planned January 2027 completion is the next material milestone, alongside any later disclosure on ownership percentages, proceeds or operating effects.
