Brookfield Corp. is exploring further opportunities in Philippine renewable energy as the country seeks to expand its clean-power capacity. BusinessMirror reported the development on Thursday, October 29, 2026, citing a recent release from the Philippine Department of Finance and comments by Brookfield Energy Managing Director Stefano Ghezzi.
Ghezzi pointed to the Philippines' clean-energy drive and investment reforms as factors supporting Brookfield's interest in the market. The report presents the initiative as part of the company's broader search for opportunities in emerging markets.
Pipeline strengthens local energy exposure
Brookfield entered the Philippine renewable-energy market in 2025 through the acquisition of Singapore-based Alba Renewables. The transaction gave Brookfield access to a development pipeline of about 1.8 gigawatts spanning wind, solar and battery-storage projects, primarily in the Philippines and Thailand.
The pipeline expands Brookfield's exposure to projects at different development stages. For investors, the potential contribution to future growth will depend on project execution, financing and the timing of construction and commercial operations.
Brookfield also has a Philippine presence outside energy through Everise, a US-based customer-experience and information-technology business-process-management provider. Everise employs about 7,000 people in the country, according to BusinessMirror.
Renewables drive investment activity
The Philippine Board of Investments had approved PHP 900.06 billion in investments as of September, including hydropower, wind, solar and other energy projects. Renewable energy accounted for 190 projects, or 76.6 percent, of the Board's Green Lane pipeline, which covers investments eligible for facilitated government processing.
That investment backdrop could support Brookfield's effort to develop its local platform, while the size of the existing pipeline gives the strategy a measurable operating footprint. The report does not establish a project completion schedule, so the near-term financial effect remains tied to development progress rather than the pipeline size alone.
