Second-quarter profit jumps

The same report said second-quarter revenue reached CNY 194.59 billion, down 3.15 percent, and second-quarter net profit climbed 29.66 percent to CNY 8.241 billion.

That mix matters for investors because gross margin in the half-year report stood at 18.85 percent, while debt ratio was 70.96 percent and financial expenses reached CNY 5.096 billion. The quarter showed a cleaner earnings trend than the first half.

Overseas sales stay strong

According to Sohu, BYD sold 188,746 passenger cars and pickups overseas in August 2026, up 134.6 percent year on year, and its overseas sales from January to August 2026 totaled 1,157,954 units. The same update said BYD had eight self-owned roll-on, roll-off vessels in service.

Overseas revenue had already reached CNY 181.268 billion in the first half of 2026, or 52.6 percent of total auto revenue, according to the same update. For the stock, the key question is whether that export mix can offset the weaker domestic trend.
