Caliway Biopharmaceuticals stock in focus as Phase 3 trial starts

Caliway Biopharmaceuticals said on October 29 that enrollment had begun in SUPREME-02, its second global pivotal Phase 3 trial for investigational drug candidate CBL-514. The company's Caliway Biopharmaceuticals announcement describes the move as part of a dual global Phase 3 program.

Second pivotal trial starts

SUPREME-02 is a randomized, double-blind and placebo-controlled multinational study evaluating the efficacy, safety and tolerability of CBL-514 for abdominal subcutaneous fat reduction. It is designed to complement the ongoing SUPREME-01 trial and generate clinical evidence for potential future regulatory submissions.

The study is expected to enroll approximately 320 adults across 30 to 35 clinical sites in the United States and Canada. Participants will be assessed through patient-reported and clinician-reported measures, supported by magnetic resonance imaging and other objective evaluations.

Asia-Pacific study continues

Caliway also said that enrollment in the Phase 2 CBL-0206 study is continuing in Taiwan and Australia. The regional program is intended to expand clinical data in Asian populations and support future regulatory, commercialization and partnering strategies.

Preclinical data due in November

The company plans to present preclinical combination-therapy findings at ObesityWeek 2026 in Washington, D.C., on November 15. The presentation will examine CBL-514 alongside semaglutide and eloralintide, focusing on weight reduction and the mitigation of weight regain after treatment discontinuation.

For investors, the enrollment announcement expands Caliway's clinical timetable but does not provide efficacy results from SUPREME-02. Attention now turns to recruitment progress, execution of the two pivotal studies and the scheduled preclinical presentation.
