Carvana (ISIN US1468691027) set new third-quarter records with 217,385 retail units sold and USD 8.040 billion in revenue for the period ended September 30, 2026. The company announced the results on October 28, 2026, in a release carried by Business Wire.
Record volume and revenue
Retail unit sales increased 39 percent from the third quarter of 2025, while revenue rose 42 percent. Both figures were all-time quarterly records, giving Carvana its first quarter above 200,000 retail units and USD 8 billion in revenue.
The result also extended the companys recent scale-up. Revenue in the third quarter of 2026 exceeded the USD 7.376 billion reported for the second quarter, while retail volume rose from the prior quarter's 197,325 units.
Margins still matter
Profitability improved in absolute terms but softened on a margin basis. Net income reached USD 483 million, GAAP operating income was USD 714 million, and adjusted EBITDA hit a record USD 800 million. Adjusted EBITDA margin was 10.0 percent, down from 11.3 percent a year earlier, while net income margin increased to 6.0 percent.
That mix gives the announcement a clear investor test: Carvana is expanding rapidly, but the next step depends on how efficiently it converts volume into profit per vehicle. The company said the margin pressure reflected a higher-priced vehicle mix and customer givebacks in other gross profit per unit.
What does the outlook show?
For the fourth quarter, Carvana expects retail units sold to increase sequentially, assuming market conditions remain stable. It also expects full-year 2026 adjusted EBITDA toward the high end of its previously communicated USD 2.7 billion to USD 3.0 billion range, according to the October 28 release.
