Comcast is cutting 634 jobs at its Philadelphia headquarters as it reshapes the organization ahead of the planned separation of NBCUniversal and Sky. PhillyVoice reported on October 30, 2026, that the affected positions are expected to be eliminated beginning December 31.
Comcast said employees will receive two months' notice. In selected cases, workers in eliminated positions may remain until December 31, 2027. The company said it would try to place affected employees in open roles or in new positions created as part of the redesign.
Jobs cuts accompany new hiring
The telecommunications group plans to add roughly 500 positions at its Philadelphia corporate towers and more than 1,100 roles across its US campuses. Employees who do not move into another role are entitled to severance benefits, according to the report. The affected workers are not union members, Comcast said.
Comcast described the move as a fundamental redesign intended to build a more agile organization, accelerate innovation and compete more effectively. The changes focus on the business areas that will remain after the planned separation, including broadband, video, mobile and business services.
