- Costco generated USD 24.50 billion in October retail-month sales and USD 54.52 billion in the first nine weeks.
- Comparable sales growth remained strongest in the United States, while Canada expanded more slowly.
- Management will make a recorded discussion available through November 11.
Costco Wholesale reported strong sales growth for its October retail month, which covered the four weeks ended November 1, 2026. In a release carried by Nasdaq on November 4, the retailer reported net sales of USD 24.50 billion, compared with USD 21.75 billion a year earlier.
Sales for the first nine weeks of the fiscal year reached USD 54.52 billion, up from USD 48.33 billion in the comparable period. That represents a 12.8% increase and indicates that Costco entered the new fiscal year with momentum beyond the latest four-week period.
Comparable sales remain broad-based
Total comparable sales increased 11.1% in October and 11.3% over the first nine weeks. The United States led the regional breakdown with growth of 12.6% for the four-week period and 12.5% for the nine-week period. Comparable sales rose 4.9% in Canada and 9.4% in other international markets during October.
The figures were less pronounced after removing the effects of gasoline prices and foreign exchange. Companywide comparable sales grew 7.3% on that basis in October and 7.5% over nine weeks. The corresponding U.S. rates were 8.1% in both periods, while Canada posted 3.5% and 4.3%, respectively. The adjustment gives investors a clearer view of underlying merchandise demand, although it remains a supplemental measure rather than a substitute for GAAP net sales.
Digital channel outpaces total sales
Digitally enabled sales increased 22.5% year over year in October and 20.5% over the first nine weeks. Costco defines the measure as sales initiated through a digital device and fulfilled through a warehouse, distribution center or Costco Travel. Growth excluding foreign exchange was slightly higher at 22.6% and 20.6%, respectively.
The company operates 943 warehouses worldwide, including 651 in the United States and Puerto Rico, and also runs e-commerce sites in nine countries. The scale of the network gives the monthly figures broad operating relevance, while the gap between reported and adjusted comparable sales keeps fuel prices and currency movements in focus for investors.
