Dell Technologies stock faces a test as memory costs rise and PC demand weakens. The November 24 report may clarify whether inventory supports AI growth.

Inventory Tests Dell's AI Growth

  • Dell's inventory reached 21.3 billion US dollars at July 31, up from 7.2 billion US dollars a year earlier.
  • AI infrastructure demand and a 95 billion US dollar backlog offset pressure from weaker PC demand and higher memory costs.
  • The November 24 fiscal report will show whether inventory converts into AI-system revenue and whether margins hold.

Dell Technologies is entering its next earnings test with strong AI infrastructure demand on one side and rising memory and PC-market risk on the other. Yahoo Finance reported on Tuesday, November 3, that Dell's inventory had nearly tripled from a year earlier, raising questions about supply conditions and future margins.

The company held 21.3 billion US dollars of inventory at July 31, the end of its fiscal second quarter, compared with 7.2 billion US dollars a year earlier. Revenue rose 58 percent to 47.0 billion US dollars in the same quarter, but inventory expanded much faster than sales.

Inventory raises a new margin test

Production materials accounted for 15.9 billion US dollars of inventory at July 31, up from 4.7 billion US dollars a year earlier, according to Yahoo Finance. The stockpile gives Dell more capacity to fulfill its 95 billion US dollar AI backlog if server demand holds and components move into finished systems.

It also increases exposure if memory prices or demand weaken. Satori Fund founder Dan Niles told Yahoo Finance that Dell's inventory growth suggests semiconductor supply may be closer to demand than current shortage pricing implies. Dell's product gross margin rose to 17.3 percent in the fiscal second quarter from 12.1 percent a year earlier, making the durability of pricing and input-cost gains a key issue.

AI demand meets weaker PC sales

Intel warned that memory prices and limited availability were slowing PC demand. Its forecast calls for global PC shipments to decline 12 percent in 2026 and another 10 percent in 2027. Dell's exposure to both personal computers and AI servers leaves investors watching whether infrastructure growth can offset weaker computer refresh activity.

Dell Technologies stock traded at 366.40 euros on Lang & Schwarz at 16:30 CET on Tuesday, November 3, 2026, up 3.41 percent from the 354.33 euros cited in the earlier report at 13:14 CET. Investors can follow the real-time quote of Dell Technologies stock.

November results set the next test

Dell's fiscal third-quarter report on November 24 will show whether the inventory build supports AI-system shipments or leaves the company exposed to falling component prices. Investors will also watch backlog conversion, PC demand and the ability to protect margins while passing higher costs to customers.
