Merger plans put on hold

The Charlotte Observer reported on Friday, October 30, that Deutsche Telekom had paused plans to submit a formal offer for T-Mobile US. The report said opposition from the works council contributed to the decision, while a later offer remains possible.

A full combination would bring together Deutsche Telekom and its majority-owned US subsidiary. The report put the potential transaction's valuation at 300 billion US dollars, but the pause means investors must continue to treat the proposal as uncertain rather than as a transaction moving toward completion.

AI agreement adds a growth angle

On Wednesday, October 28, Deutsche Telekom announced through its company newsroom that Banco Sabadell and T-Systems had agreed to scale agentic AI across the Spanish banking group. The platform is intended to support additional processes and entities while retaining open architecture, governance and control.

The agreement gives T-Systems another customer reference in sovereign cloud and AI services. Its financial terms were not disclosed, so the immediate earnings contribution cannot be assessed from the announcement alone.
