Elmos stock draws focus to quantum security award final

Elmos Semiconductor SE is entering the final round of the 2026 German IT Security Award with a project focused on quantum-based cybersecurity. The winners are due to be announced in Bochum on Thursday, November 5, during the Cybersecurity Innovation Conference.

Quantum project reaches final round

The Elmos team is one of eight finalists selected from 48 submissions, according to information from Ruhr University Bochum's Horst Goertz Institute for IT Security. The project concerns a quantum random number generator, or QRNG, designed to create random numbers for cryptographic applications.

Three projects will receive awards, with total prize money of 130,000 euros. The nomination gives Elmos additional visibility in cybersecurity beyond its established automotive semiconductor business, although the award decision does not provide a new revenue forecast or financial target.

New angle after OLED design wins

The development adds a new focus to the recent Elmos story. The company's latest own report before this update covered initial design wins with a German premium automaker for pixel-based OLED rear lights. The cybersecurity nomination concerns a different technology area and broadens the range of applications associated with Elmos's chip expertise.
