ENGIE has expanded its renewable power footprint in India with two commissioned solar projects totaling 450 MW. Energy publication EQ reported the development on Saturday, October 31, 2026.

The Khaba project in Rajasthan has a capacity of 250 MW and is expected to generate about 650 GWh of electricity annually. The 200 MW Khavda project in Gujarat is expected to produce about 350 GWh a year and operates under a 25-year power purchase agreement with Gujarat Urja Vikas Nigam.

Solar scale meets storage strategy

Together, the facilities are expected to generate approximately 1,000 GWh of electricity each year. EQ said the projects add to ENGIE's renewable portfolio in India, where about 2 GW of projects are either operational or under construction.

The expansion also supports a broader strategy that combines solar generation with storage and flexible power solutions. EQ cited ENGIE executives as emphasizing project execution, operational discipline and cooperation with local communities. About 80 percent of the construction workforce for the two projects was recruited locally, according to the report.

For investors, the projects add operating capacity in a growth market rather than representing only a development pipeline. ENGIE is also pursuing battery and hybrid projects in India, including a 280 MW/560 MWh battery storage project secured in 2025 and a 200 MW solar project paired with 100 MW/600 MWh of storage secured in January 2026, as reported by EQ.
