- Fugro reported resilient third-quarter revenue as oil and gas and infrastructure activity offset weaker offshore wind demand.
- Management kept its full-year 2026 outlook unchanged and expects offshore wind site characterisation markets to recover from the second half of 2027.
- The annualised cost reduction programme is progressing, while lower pricing and one-off costs continue to weigh on profitability.
Fugro reported resilient revenue but sharply lower profitability in its third-quarter trading update published on Friday, October 30, 2026. The company said oil and gas and infrastructure growth offset lower offshore wind activity, while pricing pressure and exceptional costs weighed on earnings. The Fugro Q3 trading update was issued from Nootdorp in the Netherlands.
Revenue holds as margins weaken
Third-quarter revenue rose to EUR 525.2 million from EUR 504.7 million a year earlier, representing comparable growth of 2.2%. Adjusted EBITDA fell to EUR 75.9 million from EUR 108.6 million, and the adjusted EBITDA margin declined to 14.4% from 21.5%.
Fugro attributed the pressure to lower pricing in marine site characterisation, costs related to the war in the Middle East and one-off charter expenses for two inspection and monitoring campaigns in Australia. Operating cash flow before working capital was EUR 59.6 million, while free cash flow was EUR 2.6 million.
Backlog and financing remain key
The backlog for the next 12 months declined 8.5% to EUR 1.35 billion. The company said the offshore wind portion fell 36%, while customers are also awarding work closer to project execution.
Fugro is continuing a EUR 50 million annualised cost reduction programme. It also extended existing debt facilities to December 2031 and secured a new EUR 150 million unsecured facility from the European Investment Bank.
Fugro kept its full-year 2026 outlook unchanged. Management expects customer caution and industry over-capacity to affect the seasonally slow fourth quarter, while annual capital expenditure is limited to around EUR 150 million to support free cash flow.
