- Drug-delivery demand drove the strongest contribution to preliminary third-quarter growth.
- Management expects a stronger fourth quarter and maintained its full-year guidance.
- The Primary Packaging Plastics sale and refinancing remain key milestones for reducing financial leverage.
Gerresheimer reported preliminary third-quarter results on Friday, October 30, showing stronger demand for drug-delivery devices but continued pressure on profitability in parts of the portfolio. The company published the figures in an official release.
Gerresheimer stock traded at 31.84 euros on Lang & Schwarz at 10:04 CET on Monday, November 2, 2026, 0.62 percent below the Xetra close of Friday, October 30. Investors can follow the real-time quote of Gerresheimer stock.
Revenue growth led by delivery systems
Preliminary third-quarter revenue rose 8 percent year over year to 605 million euros, compared with 560 million euros in the adjusted prior-year quarter. Adjusted EBITDA reached 103 million euros, broadly stable against 106 million euros a year earlier.
The revenue increase was led primarily by the Containment & Delivery Systems division. Its quarterly revenue rose to 313 million euros from 286 million euros, while adjusted EBITDA increased to 77 million euros from 64 million euros. The division's adjusted EBITDA margin improved to 24.5 percent from 22.3 percent.
Gerresheimer attributed the performance to rising demand for drug-delivery devices and the ramp-up of production capacity added in recent years. The company said the expansion is now generating higher revenue and earnings contributions. The Peachtree site in the United States remains an important growth driver for the Medical Devices business.
Margins remain the main pressure point
Group adjusted EBITDA margin fell to 17.1 percent in the quarter from 19.0 percent in the adjusted prior-year period. For the first nine months, adjusted EBITDA declined to 272 million euros from 331 million euros, while the margin fell to 15.9 percent from 19.4 percent.
Gerresheimer linked the weaker nine-month profitability to inventory reductions and weaker performance in Tubular Glass Europe and Moulded Glass. Moulded Glass generated third-quarter revenue of 169 million euros, but adjusted EBITDA fell to 17 million euros from 29 million euros as lower inventories reduced capacity utilization. The company also said it had closed its Chicago Heights plant in September as part of its transformation measures.
Stronger fourth quarter remains critical
Management expects a stronger fourth quarter with further earnings improvement and reiterated its 2026 guidance. The company continues to target revenue of 2.3 billion to 2.35 billion euros, an organic adjusted EBITDA margin of 17 percent to 18 percent and free cash flow before mergers and acquisitions of negative 50 million to negative 100 million euros.
Gerresheimer also said preparations for the sale of its Primary Packaging Plastics business were progressing. Closing is currently expected in the first quarter of 2027. Chief Financial Officer Wolf Lehmann described the transaction and a comprehensive refinancing as the next major milestones after the completed Centor sale.
The planned disposals and debt reduction are central to the investment case. Successful execution could improve the group's financial flexibility, while the weak Moulded Glass performance and the need for a strong fourth quarter keep execution risks in focus. The company plans to publish its final third-quarter and nine-month figures in December 2026.
