- Phase 3 IDEAL results strengthened the case for broader Livdelzi use in primary biliary cholangitis.
- Gilead raised its 2026 product-sales outlook after strong third-quarter growth.
- Regulatory discussions and further liver-disease data are the next catalysts for investors.
Gilead Sciences ended the week with two business developments relevant to investors: stronger third-quarter sales and new clinical evidence for Livdelzi. The company now faces a regulatory follow-up as it seeks to broaden the drug's reach in primary biliary cholangitis.
Livdelzi expands its evidence base
On November 5, Gilead announced detailed Phase 3 IDEAL results for Livdelzi in adults with primary biliary cholangitis whose alkaline phosphatase levels were above normal but below 1.67 times the upper limit of normal. The Gilead announcement said the results will be presented at The Liver Meeting in Denver from November 5 to 9.
Gilead said it will engage with global regulatory authorities based on the findings. The company reported that the safety profile was consistent with earlier Livdelzi studies and that no new safety concerns were identified. Regulatory discussions do not guarantee a label expansion, but they give the liver-disease portfolio a near-term development focus.
Raised outlook supports core business
In its third-quarter release on October 29, Gilead reported product sales of 8.3 billion US dollars, up 13 percent from the year-earlier quarter. Product sales excluding Veklury rose 16 percent to 8.2 billion US dollars, while HIV sales increased 18 percent to 6.2 billion US dollars.
The third-quarter release raised the 2026 product-sales outlook to 31.0 billion to 31.3 billion US dollars, from 30.1 billion to 30.4 billion US dollars previously. Livdelzi contributed to the quarter's growth, while Trodelvy sales also advanced and Cell Therapy sales declined amid competitive pressure.
