Published on 11/07/2026 at 12:09 | Editorial responsibility: Rafael Müller, Editor-in-Chief AD HOC NEWSLanxess posts a stronger quarter
- Third-quarter sales and adjusted EBITDA increased year over year despite weak demand in several core markets.
- Management expects full-year adjusted EBITDA near the upper end of its 450 million to 500 million euro range.
- Positive free cash flow and pricing actions remain key investor focus areas for the fourth quarter.
LANXESS reported stronger sales and earnings for the third quarter on Thursday, November 5, 2026. The specialty chemicals group also refined its full-year outlook, giving investors a fresh view of pricing power, cost control and cash generation.
According to the LANXESS investor release, third-quarter sales rose 9.6 percent year over year to 1.467 billion euros. EBITDA before exceptional items increased 11.2 percent to 139 million euros, while the corresponding margin improved to 9.5 percent from 9.3 percent.
Cash flow and pricing shape outlook
Free cash flow improved to 48 million euros from an outflow of 14 million euros in the prior-year quarter. LANXESS attributed the improvement to operating performance and cost-saving measures, while higher selling prices helped offset raw-material and energy costs.
Management now expects full-year EBITDA before exceptional items at the upper end of its 450 million to 500 million euro range. The group also expects positive free cash flow in the fourth quarter. That outlook still depends on demand conditions, energy costs and the company's ability to pass higher expenses through to customers.
The segment picture remained mixed. Specialty Additives delivered the strongest earnings improvement, with adjusted EBITDA up 57.8 percent year over year to 71 million euros. Consumer Protection increased sales but recorded lower adjusted EBITDA, while Advanced Intermediates faced pressure from weak construction and agricultural demand as well as high energy costs.
