- Statutory profit after tax rose 46 percent in the nine months ended September 30, 2026.
- Lloyds maintained its 2026 targets, including net interest income above GBP 14.9 billion and return on tangible equity above 16 percent.
- Deposit competition and margin pressure remain central execution risks for investors.
Lloyds Banking Group reported stronger nine-month earnings for the period ended September 30, 2026, while keeping its full-year targets unchanged. The results were released on Thursday, October 29, and the company cited higher income, improving operating leverage and stable credit performance. The figures are set out in the Lloyds Banking Group Q3 2026 interim management statement.
Since the latest own report, which cited a 1.18 euro quote at 18:05 CET on November 4, the real-time quote has moved to 1.16 euros at 18:03 CET on Thursday, November 5, 2026, at Lang & Schwarz. That is a decline of 1.69 percent versus the previous report's quote and provides the fresh market development for this second main report.
Stronger earnings support returns
Statutory profit before tax reached GBP 6.625 billion in the first nine months, up 42 percent from the comparable period. Statutory profit after tax rose 46 percent to GBP 4.835 billion, while earnings per share increased to 7.6 pence from 4.8 pence.
Net income increased 9 percent to GBP 14.819 billion. Underlying net interest income rose 10 percent to GBP 11.084 billion, and the banking net interest margin reached 3.21 percent, 17 basis points above the prior-year period. Return on tangible equity stood at 17.9 percent.
Targets remain unchanged
Management continues to expect underlying net interest income above GBP 14.9 billion in 2026, a cost-to-income ratio below 50 percent and operating costs below GBP 9.9 billion. It also retained targets for an asset quality ratio of about 25 basis points, return on tangible equity above 16 percent and capital generation above 200 basis points.
The outlook leaves execution as the central investor test. Income growth and cost control support the plan, while competition for deposits, interest-rate conditions and lending volumes could shape the next phase of earnings.
