London Stock Exchange Group raised its 2026 outlook on October 22 after third-quarter growth accelerated across its businesses, while agreeing to acquire credit-data provider Octus for USD 3.535 billion. The update gives investors a stronger operating outlook but also adds an acquisition and financing milestone to monitor.

According to LSEG's Q3 trading update, total income excluding recoveries rose 8.8% on an organic constant-currency basis in the three months ended September 30, 2026, to GBP 2.407 billion from GBP 2.219 billion a year earlier. Markets led the main divisions with 12.5% growth, followed by FTSE Russell at 10.2%, Risk Intelligence at 9.8% and Data & Analytics at 5.2%.

Guidance Moves Higher

Management now expects organic constant-currency growth in total income excluding recoveries of at least 8.0% for 2026. That compares with a 7.0% to 7.5% range issued with the half-year results and an initial range of 6.5% to 7.5%. LSEG said the revised outlook would put it on track for its strongest organic annual revenue growth since 2018.

The group also lifted its target for constant-currency EBITDA margin expansion to 100 to 120 basis points and raised equity free cash flow guidance to at least GBP 2.8 billion from GBP 2.7 billion. Subscription businesses grew 6.6% in the quarter, while LSEG said customer adoption of its artificial-intelligence products continued to build.

LSEG stock traded at 112.45 euros on Lang & Schwarz at 11:36 CET on Wednesday, November 4. Investors can follow the real-time quote of LSE Group stock.

Octus Adds Private Credit Reach

Under the agreement described in LSEG's Octus announcement, the company will buy the credit-intelligence provider from funds advised by Permira and Octus management. Octus serves private, illiquid and distressed credit markets with proprietary data, analytics and workflow products.

Octus is expected to generate more than USD 300 million in revenue in 2026 and carry an adjusted EBITDA margin of about 40%, according to LSEG. The acquisition is expected to be immediately additive to Data & Analytics organic revenue growth and to support the group's subscription-growth guidance for 2027.

The transaction is expected to be neutral to adjusted earnings per share in the first full year after completion and accretive thereafter. LSEG expects to complete the deal in the first half of 2027, subject to regulatory approval, and plans to finance it with external debt. Including the acquisition, the planned Trumid transaction and share buybacks, management expects leverage to reach the upper end of its 1.5 to 2.5 times target range by the end of 2027 before returning toward the middle of the range in 2028.

Investor Milestones Ahead

The investment case now rests on converting strong Markets and subscription momentum into the upgraded 2026 targets while integrating new credit capabilities. The Octus combination could broaden LSEG's exposure to private markets, but completion remains conditional and the additional debt increases the importance of cash generation and leverage control.

The UK market backdrop is tracked through current FTSE 100 market reports.
