- Lufthansa Group generated record third-quarter revenue as demand remained strong across passenger, cargo and maintenance operations.
- Higher fuel expenses narrowed the upper end of the 2026 adjusted EBIT outlook despite improved quarterly earnings.
- Lufthansa Cargo and Lufthansa Technik provided important support as management focused on the fourth quarter.
Lufthansa Group reported its strongest quarterly revenue in company history on Tuesday, November 3, 2026, as resilient demand across passenger traffic, cargo and maintenance offset a steep rise in fuel costs. The results were published by the Lufthansa Group newsroom.
Revenue increased 9 percent year on year to EUR 12.2 billion in the third quarter, while adjusted EBIT rose 6 percent to EUR 1.4 billion from EUR 1.3 billion. The adjusted EBIT margin slipped to 11.5 percent from 11.9 percent, showing that stronger sales did not fully neutralize cost pressure.
Revenue growth offsets fuel pressure
Fuel costs rose by EUR 543 million from a year earlier. Management said strong operating revenue and strict cost control more than compensated for the increase, with unit costs excluding fuel and emissions at the network airlines rising just 0.5 percent year on year.
Demand remained firm in premium travel and on routes to Asia and North America. Lufthansa Cargo tripled adjusted EBIT to EUR 162 million, while Lufthansa Technik increased adjusted EBIT 54 percent to EUR 200 million. These businesses helped offset weaker earnings at the network airlines, whose adjusted EBIT fell to EUR 853 million from EUR 961 million.
Fuel bill limits earnings range
Lufthansa now expects a 2026 fuel bill of EUR 9.3 billion, EUR 600 million above the estimate made three months earlier. The group narrowed its adjusted EBIT forecast to EUR 1.7 billion to EUR 2.0 billion from the previous EUR 1.7 billion to EUR 2.2 billion range. Chief Financial Officer Till Streichert said the final result would depend on fuel costs, demand and Lufthansa Cargo's fourth-quarter performance.
Management continues to expect a clear increase in full-year revenue and described fourth-quarter demand as healthy. The outlook therefore combines operational momentum with a tighter margin for error as fuel prices and geopolitical conditions remain key swing factors.
