- Third-quarter net revenue rose 14 percent, while adjusted earnings per share reached USD 5.31.
- Value-added services and solutions grew faster than the payment network, with cross-border volume also advancing.
- Management kept its full-year revenue outlook at the high end of the low-double-digit range on a currency-neutral basis.
Mastercard Incorporated reported its third-quarter 2026 results on October 29, 2026. The company announced the release through its Investor Relations announcement, while the detailed figures were carried in the earnings release filed with the SEC.
Results add substance to prior setup
Mastercard generated USD 9.807 billion in third-quarter net revenue, up 14 percent from the prior-year period. GAAP net income was USD 4.628 billion and diluted earnings per share was USD 5.28. On an adjusted basis, net income was USD 4.653 billion and diluted earnings per share was USD 5.31.
The adjusted figures exclude gains and losses on equity investments and special items. The quarter included a USD 74 million litigation provision, so the adjusted and GAAP results should not be treated as interchangeable.
Services and cross-border remain key drivers
Payment-network net revenue increased 11 percent, while value-added services and solutions revenue rose 19 percent. Worldwide gross dollar volume grew 7 percent in local currency, cross-border volume increased 11 percent and switched transactions rose 9 percent. Management also said that 81 percent of in-person switched purchase transactions were contactless.
Some of the strength came from services projects and deal signings moving from the fourth quarter into the third quarter. Management therefore expects a similar offset in the fourth quarter, even though it described the underlying business as strong.
Outlook stays positive but timing matters
Mastercard kept its full-year 2026 net-revenue growth outlook at the high end of the low-double-digit range on a currency-neutral basis, excluding inorganic activity. Fourth-quarter revenue growth is expected in the same range. Operating-expense growth is also expected at the high end of the low-double-digit range, with a non-GAAP tax rate of 20 to 21 percent.
