- Meta's third-quarter revenue rose 26 percent year over year to USD 64.60 billion.

- Management expects new AI businesses to begin contributing revenue in 2027.
Meta Platforms is pushing ahead with an AI expansion that combines higher infrastructure spending, new financing capacity and a growing strain on near-term cash generation. Meta's third-quarter results release, issued on October 21, showed strong operating momentum alongside sharply higher costs.
Meta Platforms stock traded at 543.60 euros on Lang & Schwarz at 13:18 CET on Tuesday, November 3, 2026. The quote is a dated trading indication; no Xetra comparison is included.
Revenue growth meets heavier investment
Revenue for the quarter ended September 30 rose 26 percent from the prior-year period to USD 64.601 billion. Advertising revenue reached USD 63.061 billion, while average daily people across Meta's Family of Apps rose 3 percent to 3.64 billion in September. Ad impressions increased 10 percent and the average price per ad advanced 14 percent.
The earnings quality was more mixed below the top line. Costs and expenses climbed 68 percent to USD 51.613 billion, including a USD 9.89 billion charge tied to Meta's agreement with 52 U.S. state attorneys general over litigation related to teen mental health and social media. Net income rose to USD 9.860 billion, or USD 3.83 per diluted share, while operating margin fell to 20 percent from 40 percent a year earlier. Excluding the legal charge, Meta said diluted earnings per share would have been USD 7.40.
Capital expenditures, including principal payments on finance leases, reached USD 34.91 billion in the quarter. Operating cash flow was USD 32.786 billion, but free cash flow was negative USD 2.120 billion, compared with positive free cash flow of USD 10.625 billion a year earlier.
AI commitments raise financing stakes
A Daily Times report published October 26 said Meta plans equity offerings of up to USD 95 billion to finance data centers, cloud capacity and other AI investments. The report also cited approximately USD 825 billion in future lease and contract commitments, largely related to computing capacity and infrastructure.
Meta's own release said the board approved a publicly listed, non-voting Class C common stock with an effective date in January 2027. The company intends to use the additional class for capital raising, employee compensation, potential acquisitions and other corporate purposes. A one-time stock dividend is expected to result in one Class C share for each outstanding Class A and Class B share, with the Class A market price expected to reflect a two-for-one effect after the payment.
The financing plan gives Meta more flexibility to fund AI infrastructure while preserving founder Mark Zuckerberg's voting control. For investors, it also raises questions about the pace of spending, future dilution and the time required for new AI products to generate meaningful revenue.
Guidance keeps the focus forward
Meta expects fourth-quarter revenue of USD 73 billion to USD 76 billion and full-year 2026 expenses of USD 175 billion to USD 179 billion. Capital expenditure guidance was narrowed to USD 135 billion to USD 145 billion from the earlier range of USD 130 billion to USD 145 billion.
Management said AI investments are already supporting engagement, recommendations and advertising monetization. It expects new AI businesses to begin contributing incremental revenue in 2027 through subscriptions, transactions, advertising and enterprise offerings. Reality Labs losses are expected to narrow to about USD 15 billion next year as investment is redirected toward AI.
Investors should therefore weigh resilient advertising growth against the scale and duration of the infrastructure cycle. The central issue for Meta Platforms stock is whether higher engagement and future AI products can produce returns before financing needs and cash demands materially increase.
