  • Adjusted profit and operating cash flow weakened, sharpening the focus on earnings quality.
  • Midea is redirecting repurchased A shares toward cancellation, reducing registered capital.

Midea Group entered the weekend with a mixed third-quarter picture: revenue declined, while reported profit rose because of non-operating effects. The companys share-buyback program also moved closer to cancellation, adding a capital-structure angle for investors.

Revenue pressure meets profit distortion

In a report published on November 6, Tianfeng Securities said Mideas third-quarter operating revenue reached RMB 107.32 billion, down 4.12 percent from a year earlier. Net profit attributable to owners rose 25.93 percent to RMB 14.95 billion, but profit excluding non-recurring items fell 15.70 percent to RMB 9.19 billion.

Futunns report attributed the divergence partly to foreign-exchange accounting: currency losses affected operating profit, while gains from hedging derivatives were recorded outside operating profit. Operating cash flow for the first nine months fell 29.58 percent year over year to RMB 40.19 billion.

Industrial units soften the setback

The same report said Building Technologies revenue increased 8.0 percent and Robotics & Automation revenue rose 10.0 percent in the third quarter. Industrial Technology revenue declined 13.7 percent. The combined contribution of the three business-to-business units rose to 21.0 percent of operating revenue, showing how Mideas industrial portfolio is offsetting part of the pressure in consumer appliances.

Morningstars analysis likewise described weaker domestic home-appliance sales alongside growth in building technology and robotics. For investors, the key issue is whether industrial expansion can compensate for softer consumer demand without relying on volatile non-operating gains.

Buybacks add a capital-return signal

According to Tianfeng Securities, Midea had repurchased 138 million A shares by October 22 at a total cost of RMB 11.23 billion. The stated purpose had shifted toward cancellation, which would reduce registered capital and could support per-share metrics if the lower share count persists.

Midea stock traded at 11.71 euros on Lang & Schwarz at 10:34 CET on Saturday, November 7, 2026.

US equities provide the broader market backdrop for Midea investors through the S&P 500, although index performance does not establish a cause for Mideas share movement.
