MTU Aero Engines raised its 2026 revenue outlook on Thursday, October 29, after third-quarter sales exceeded company consensus. Reuters, published by Reuters via Euronext, said adjusted quarterly revenue reached 2.43 billion euros, compared with a 2.37 billion euro consensus.
Adjusted operating profit rose to 349 million euros but narrowly missed the 354 million euro analyst forecast. The result highlights a mixed quarter for investors: demand remained strong, but the profit outcome did not match expectations.
Maintenance drives quarterly growth
Maintenance, repair and overhaul remained the main growth engine. Revenue in that business rose to 1.72 billion euros, while adjusted operating profit increased 20 percent. Stronger maintenance activity more than offset weaker profitability in original equipment manufacturing.
Airlines continue to spend on maintenance as supply-chain disruption and delayed aircraft deliveries keep engines in service for longer. That backdrop supports MTU's aftermarket business, although the business mix can weigh on the group's margin when lower-margin maintenance revenue grows faster than original equipment sales.
Higher revenue floor, steady EBIT target
MTU lifted its 2026 revenue outlook to 9.5 billion to 9.7 billion euros from the previous range of 9.2 billion to 9.7 billion euros. The company also increased its cash conversion target. Its adjusted EBIT target remains 1.35 billion to 1.45 billion euros, leaving the profit framework unchanged despite the higher revenue floor.
Adjusted free cash flow reached 172 million euros in the third quarter. For shareholders, the guidance change improves visibility on the top line, while the unchanged EBIT range keeps execution, product mix and supply-chain progress central to the investment case.
