Netflix lifted quarterly profit and kept its full-year revenue outlook at 13% growth. Slower ad-product rollouts are putting monetization execution under closer scrutiny.

Ad rollout trails aggressive plan

  • Netflix beat the analyst estimate for third-quarter earnings per share.
  • Membership growth and March price increases supported quarterly revenue.
  • The company expects fourth-quarter revenue to reach 13.44 billion dollars.
  • Management is using content, technology and monetization to accelerate viewing growth.

Netflix reported a third-quarter earnings beat on Tuesday, October 20, 2026, while trimming its advertising-revenue outlook for the year. CNBC reported that earnings per share exceeded the analyst estimate, while revenue matched expectations for the quarter ended September 30.

Quarterly revenue increased 11.8% year over year to 12.87 billion dollars. Net income rose to 3.66 billion dollars from 2.55 billion dollars in the year-earlier period. Earnings per share reached 0.87 dollars, compared with 0.59 dollars a year earlier and an analyst estimate of 0.82 dollars.

Profit beat meets softer ad outlook

Netflix attributed the revenue growth to membership gains, March subscription-price increases and advertising. The company said customer responses to the price changes were consistent with earlier adjustments and internal expectations.

The more cautious signal came from advertising. Netflix now expects 2026 advertising revenue of about 2.7 billion dollars, down from its earlier expectation of roughly 3 billion dollars. Management said the reduction reflected a slower-than-expected rollout of some advertising capabilities.

Co-Chief Executive Greg Peters said the advertising business continued to grow strongly but was behind an aggressive product roadmap. Netflix is expanding tools designed to connect advertisers with audiences and measure campaign impact. Management also plans to improve programmatic access and other elements of its advertising technology stack.

Content and engagement remain central

Netflix acknowledged investor concern about the growth of viewing hours but said broader engagement, including the quantity, quality and variety of viewing, remained healthy. The company plans to accelerate viewing growth through more entertainment value, technology improvements across the service and stronger monetization.

The fourth-quarter outlook calls for revenue of 13.44 billion dollars, representing growth of more than 11% according to the company. Netflix expects full-year 2026 revenue of 51.1 billion dollars, or 13% growth from the prior year. The forecast is at the low end of the range previously provided by management.

Netflix stock traded at 60.11 euros on Lang & Schwarz at 13:44 CET on Thursday, November 5, 2026. The real-time quote of Netflix stock is available separately.
