- Nintendo will report its first-half results for the fiscal year ending March 2027 on Thursday, November 5.
- Switch 2 sales reached 23.68 million consoles by June 30, while the full-year target stands at 16.5 million units.
- The report will test whether software demand and the holiday lineup can support Nintendo's earnings and hardware assumptions.
Nintendo is due to publish its six-month results for the fiscal year ending March 2027 on Thursday, November 5, covering the period from April 1 through September 30. The release will give investors the first full update on Switch 2 demand since the launch phase and will show whether the company has maintained its annual assumptions. Pogwire reported the scheduled date and the operating benchmarks ahead of the release.
Hardware Meets Its Annual Target
Nintendo had sold 23.68 million Switch 2 consoles worldwide by June 30, including 3.82 million in the April-to-June quarter. The quarterly figure was 34.4 percent below the comparable launch-period volume, while software sales reached 9.46 million units. Nintendo's full-year plan calls for 16.5 million Switch 2 consoles and 60 million games through March 2027.
The six-month release will therefore show how much of the hardware target was achieved during the July-to-September quarter. The comparison with the prior-year first half is demanding: Nintendo sold 10.36 million Switch 2 consoles and generated operating profit of JPY 145.1 billion from April through September 2025.
Profit Growth Faces A High Bar
In the first quarter, net sales fell 9.5 percent to JPY 517.8 billion, while operating profit increased 150.5 percent to JPY 142.5 billion. Profit rose 53.5 percent to JPY 147.4 billion. Digital sales climbed 90.0 percent to JPY 132.7 billion, and a refund of US tariffs of about USD 300 million supported the quarterly profit comparison.
Nintendo's annual forecast remains net sales of JPY 2.05 trillion, operating profit of JPY 370 billion and profit of JPY 310 billion, according to the Pogwire preview. The company also plans an annual dividend of JPY 162 per share. Investors will look for any changes to those targets and for management's explanation of the balance between hardware volume, software sales and margins.
Price And Holiday Demand In Focus
The report will include the first quarter with the higher Switch 2 price in the United States, Canada and Europe for part of the period. The US price increased by USD 50 to USD 499.99 on September 1. New software releases during the quarter included Splatoon Raiders, the first Pokémon Pokopia expansion and Fire Emblem: Fortune's Weave.
Holiday demand will be another important indicator for the stock. Nintendo Switch Sports Resort was released on October 22, while The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time is scheduled for November 5, the same day as the results. These launches give investors additional context for the company's software target, although the upcoming report will primarily reflect sales through September 30.
