Panasonic Industry, an operating company within the Panasonic Group, announced on October 30 that it plans to invest approximately 92 billion yen in AI-related businesses. The program expands production capacity for materials and components used in AI servers and adds a new research facility for semiconductor packaging materials.

Panasonic stock traded at 17.72 euros on Lang & Schwarz at 15:37 CET on Thursday, November 5, 2026. The quote was 21.63 euros in the own report published on October 28, a decline of 18.08 percent since that report. This comparison is separate from the daily performance against a closing price on Xetra.

Investment targets AI infrastructure

According to the Panasonic press release, around 67 billion yen will expand MEGTRON multi-layer circuit-board production in Suzhou, China, and Ayutthaya, Thailand. Phase II facilities are scheduled to begin operations in August 2028 and April 2029, respectively.

A further 17 billion yen is earmarked for SP-Cap conductive polymer capacitors at sites in Kyoto and Indonesia. These components support stable power supply in GPU circuits and other AI-server equipment. Panasonic also plans to spend around 8 billion yen on a new research and development building in Yokkaichi for next-generation semiconductor packaging materials.

Growth case gains a longer runway

The project gives Panasonic additional capacity in materials and components where AI infrastructure is driving demand. The scheduled expansion also points to a multi-year growth effort rather than a short-term production response. Execution, customer demand and the return on the new capacity will remain important for the investment case.
