Pfizer raised its full-year 2026 revenue and adjusted earnings outlook on November 3 after third-quarter sales exceeded expectations. The pharmaceutical company said commercial execution, cost discipline and demand for recently launched and acquired products supported the higher forecast. The details were published in Pfizer's third-quarter results update.
Pfizer generated USD 16.583 billion in third-quarter revenue, compared with USD 16.654 billion a year earlier. Excluding Comirnaty and Paxlovid, revenue grew 7% operationally. Revenue from launched and acquired products increased 32% operationally to USD 3.8 billion, helping offset lower sales of COVID-19 products and pressure in parts of the Prevnar portfolio.
New products offset COVID pressure
Blood thinner Eliquis remained a key contributor, with quarterly sales of USD 2.52 billion, up 25% year over year. Cancer treatment Padcev also helped drive the quarter, while Pfizer identified Vyndaqel, Nurtec and Lorbrena among the products supporting growth. The company said the commercial performance reflected contributions from newer medicines as it works to reduce its dependence on pandemic-related products.
Adjusted diluted earnings per share reached USD 0.87, ahead of the USD 0.73 analyst consensus cited by CNBC. Reported diluted earnings per share were USD 0.56. Pfizer said the adjusted figure included a USD 0.10-per-share charge related to its Innovent transaction.
The company now expects 2026 revenue of USD 62.0 billion to USD 64.0 billion, up from its previous range of USD 60.5 billion to USD 62.5 billion. The midpoint increased by USD 1.5 billion. Adjusted diluted earnings guidance rose to USD 2.95 to USD 3.05 per share from USD 2.80 to USD 3.00. Pfizer maintained its expectation for approximately USD 4 billion in full-year COVID product revenue, with most Comirnaty sales expected during the fourth quarter vaccination season.
Pipeline remains central to valuation
Pfizer said it invested USD 8.3 billion in research and development during the first nine months of 2026 across oncology, vaccines, inflammation and immunology, and internal medicine. Chief Executive Albert Bourla said the company sees a path toward meaningful growth, supported by commercial execution, productivity improvements and progress in late-stage research.
