Ping An Insurance (Group) Company of China, Ltd. (CNE1000003X6) expanded AI service coverage to 82 percent of customer-service volume in the first nine months of 2026, a new operating efficiency signal in the company's latest results. The finding comes from Ping An, which published the results on October 28, 2026.
AI moves beyond experimentation
Ping An said its AI service representatives handled about 1,484 million interactions during the period. Express Service operated across 90 percent of business scenarios, resolved 91 percent of customer requests end-to-end with AI, and served users more than 150 million times.
The cost curve is the more important addition for investors. Average daily token consumption exceeded 330 billion in September 2026, more than 10 times the December 2025 level, while token output per compute unit increased 509 percent and cost per token decreased 81 percent, according to Ping An.
Profit quality remains divided
The AI rollout sits beside a mixed financial picture. Operating profit attributable to shareholders rose 8.3 percent to RMB125,905 million for the nine months ended September 30, 2026, but net profit fell 27.3 percent to RMB96,645 million. Basic operating earnings per share increased 9.2 percent to RMB7.23, while basic earnings per share declined 26.6 percent to RMB5.55.
Insurance operations provided a counterweight. Property and casualty premium income rose 3.5 percent to RMB265,215 million, while the combined ratio improved 1.4 percentage points to 95.6 percent. Ping An Bank's revenue increased 2.4 percent to RMB103,100 million and net profit rose 2.2 percent to RMB39,186 million, according to Ping An.
What the operating split means
The new evidence points to a business using AI as an efficiency system rather than only as a customer feature. That matters because the company is reporting measurable operating deployment while investment-sensitive earnings are under pressure.
