- Ping An's operating profit attributable to shareholders rose 8.3 percent in the first nine months of 2026.
- Net profit fell 27.3 percent as investment volatility weighed on reported earnings.
- Property and casualty insurance improved its combined ratio, while life and health new business value declined.
Ping An Insurance (Group) Company of China reported mixed nine-month results for the period ended September 30, 2026. Operating profit attributable to shareholders increased 8.3 percent year on year to RMB125,905 million, while net profit attributable to shareholders fell 27.3 percent to RMB96,645 million.
The results, released on October 28 and carried by Vietnam Investment Review from a PR Newswire release, show the contrast between recurring operating performance and investment-sensitive reported earnings. Basic operating earnings per share rose 9.2 percent year on year to RMB7.23.
Insurance Operations Improve Efficiency
Life and health insurance operating profit rose 5.7 percent to RMB87,238 million. Ping An Property and Casualty's premium income increased 3.5 percent to RMB265,215 million, while its combined ratio improved by 1.4 percentage points year on year to 95.6 percent. A ratio below 100 percent indicates underwriting profitability before investment income.
Not all insurance indicators moved in the same direction. Life and health new business value declined 13.3 percent year on year to RMB30,987 million, highlighting pressure on the value of newly written business despite higher operating profit in the segment.
Banking And Technology Add Support
Ping An Bank delivered moderate growth during the period. Revenue rose 2.4 percent year on year to RMB103,100 million, while net profit increased 2.2 percent to RMB39,186 million. The bank reported a non-performing loan ratio of 1.05 percent and a provision coverage ratio of 214.75 percent at September 30.
Technology remained a central part of Ping An's operating strategy. Its Express Service provided AI-enabled inquiry, consultation and processing in 90 percent of business scenarios by the end of September. The service had handled more than 150 million user sessions and resolved 91 percent of customer requests end to end with AI.
The group also said average daily token consumption exceeded 330 billion in September, more than ten times the December 2025 level. Token output per compute unit increased 509 percent, while cost per token declined 81 percent, according to the release.
Investment Volatility Remains Key Risk
For investors, the main tension is between the improvement in operating profit and the decline in reported net profit. Ping An's nine-month figures remain exposed to movements in investment markets, while the lower new business value points to a separate challenge for future insurance growth.
