Republic Services reported stronger third-quarter results on October 29, 2026, and raised its full-year targets. In its Oct. 29 release, the waste and environmental-services company said revenue grew 8.2 percent year over year to 4.559 billion US dollars for the three months ended September 30.

Net income attributable to Republic Services rose to 592 million US dollars from 550 million US dollars a year earlier. Diluted earnings per share increased to 1.93 US dollars from 1.76 US dollars. Adjusted earnings per share, a non-GAAP measure, reached 1.94 US dollars, compared with 1.90 US dollars in the prior-year quarter.

Pricing drives quarterly expansion

Republic Services said organic growth from its recycling and waste business contributed 4.8 percentage points, while Environmental Solutions added 2.1 percentage points and acquisitions contributed 1.3 percentage points. Core price increased revenue by 5.3 percent, while volume reduced revenue by 0.6 percent.

Adjusted EBITDA rose to 1.449 billion US dollars, with the adjusted margin at 31.8 percent versus 32.8 percent in the comparable quarter. Environmental Solutions revenue increased to 529 million US dollars from 433 million US dollars, while its adjusted EBITDA rose to 134 million US dollars from 91 million US dollars. The company attributed the broader performance to pricing discipline, cost management and improved Environmental Solutions execution.

Chief Executive Officer Jon Vander Ark said the results showed resilience in the business model and reinforced confidence in the company’s opportunities. Management highlighted disciplined pricing, strategic investment and the improving performance of Environmental Solutions as priorities for long-term growth.

Higher targets and capital returns

Republic Services raised its 2026 revenue guidance to a range of 17.425 billion to 17.475 billion US dollars. Adjusted EBITDA is now expected at 5.550 billion to 5.575 billion US dollars, while adjusted free cash flow is projected at 2.565 billion to 2.585 billion US dollars. The guidance assumes current economic conditions without significant changes during the remainder of the year.

The board approved a 5 billion US dollar share repurchase authorization on October 28. It becomes effective January 1, 2027, and runs through December 31, 2029. The existing authorization had about 0.8 billion US dollars of remaining capacity at September 30, 2026. The board also declared a quarterly dividend of 0.670 US dollars per share, payable January 15, 2027, to shareholders of record on January 4.

Year-to-date through September, Republic Services generated 3.519 billion US dollars of operating cash flow and 2.276 billion US dollars of adjusted free cash flow. It invested 1.117 billion US dollars in acquisitions and returned 1.43 billion US dollars to shareholders through repurchases and dividends.
