Outlook cut despite record growth

  • Rheinmetall reduced its 2026 sales and operating-margin guidance after project and ammunition acceptance delays.
  • Sales rose 38 percent and operating profit increased 69 percent in the first nine months.
  • The Capital Markets Day on November 26 and 27 is the next major investor event.

Rheinmetall stock lost 21.68 percent over the week from the Xetra close of Friday, October 30, at 1,037.60 euros to the Xetra close of Friday, November 6, at 812.70 euros. The move came as the defense group published strong nine-month figures but reduced its full-year outlook.

Strong growth, weaker full-year view

In its Q3 2026 financial report, Rheinmetall said sales increased 38 percent year over year to 8.376 billion euros in the first nine months. Operating profit rose 69 percent to 1.339 billion euros, lifting the margin to 16.0 percent from 13.1 percent.

The company nevertheless lowered its 2026 sales expectation to around 13.2 billion euros from a previous range of 13.7 billion to 14.2 billion euros. It now expects an operating margin of around 18.5 percent, compared with previous guidance of about 19 percent. Rheinmetall attributed the adjustment to delays in the German armed forces' Arminius project and in artillery ammunition acceptance tests, shifting sales into 2027.

Order book remains a support

Rheinmetall said its backlog reached 78.0 billion euros at the end of September, up from 56.7 billion euros a year earlier. The company also reported a nomination volume of 19.1 billion euros, while operating free cash flow was negative 1.698 billion euros because inventories were built up to support planned growth.

Rheinmetall stock traded at 816.50 euros on Lang & Schwarz at 12:06 CET on Saturday, November 7, 0.47 percent above the Xetra close of Friday, November 6. The real-time quote of Rheinmetall stock reflects the weekend indication rather than a new Xetra session.
