- Bookings declined 12 percent year over year, while weaker Q4 expectations and higher AI investment remain key investor issues.
Roblox reported a mixed third quarter on Friday, October 30, with user activity improving from the previous quarter while key engagement and spending measures remained below year-earlier levels. Music Ally reported that daily active users reached 138 million, down 9 percent year over year, while hours engaged fell to 34 billion from 40 billion.
The same report said bookings, the industry measure for player spending, declined 12 percent year over year but increased sequentially. The quarter therefore showed a recovery from three consecutive quarters of declines in users and hours engaged, even as annual comparisons remained weak.
Investor Focus Shifts To Q4
For investors, the next issue is the outlook for the fourth quarter. Music Ally said Roblox expects weaker Q4 bookings and is also increasing spending on artificial intelligence and infrastructure. The report added that the company beat expectations for revenue and losses, but did not provide the underlying estimates in its article.
