S&P Global's third-quarter results and a strategic review of Capital IQ have shifted the focus from quarterly execution to portfolio direction. In its earnings call on October 27, 2026, management said revenue reached 3.678 billion US dollars and adjusted earnings were 4.58 US dollars per share, ahead of estimates of 3.643 billion US dollars and 4.43 US dollars, respectively. The company release confirmed the October 27 announcement.

S&P Global reported 7 percent revenue growth in the quarter on both a reported and organic constant-currency basis. Recurring revenue increased 8 percent, while adjusted operating margin expanded 60 basis points to 53.5 percent. Adjusted earnings per share rose 9 percent year over year, according to the third-quarter earnings call transcript.

Guidance Moves Higher

Management lifted its full-year 2026 organic constant-currency revenue growth forecast to 7.5 percent to 8.5 percent. The expected expansion in adjusted operating margin increased to 75 to 100 basis points, while adjusted earnings per share guidance moved to 17.70 to 17.95 US dollars.

The division outlook also improved in areas tied to market activity. Ratings organic constant-currency revenue growth is now expected at 6.5 percent to 8 percent, while S&P Dow Jones Indices is forecast to grow 17 percent to 18.5 percent. Energy remains guided to 4.5 percent to 6 percent growth, and Market Intelligence to 5.5 percent to 7 percent.

Capital IQ Review Adds Uncertainty

The strategic review covers Capital IQ and associated data businesses, including the Kensho Data and Platforms operations within Market Intelligence. S&P Global said it expects to retain RatingsDirect, RatingsXpress and Enterprise Solutions. A separation is one possible outcome, but management has set no definitive timetable and stressed that the scope remains under review.

Chief Executive Martina Cheung said separate ownership could provide the businesses with more focused investment and accelerate innovation. She also said S&P Global intends to maintain close commercial alignment if a transaction proceeds. The earliest meaningful update is expected during the February earnings call, which makes that event the next material checkpoint for investors.
