- ServiceNow combines stronger enterprise AI demand with a restructuring of its workforce.
- Investors are weighing higher monetization targets against slower near-term contract growth.
ServiceNow's AI growth story met a tougher execution test during the week as the company paired higher monetization ambitions with a new round of workforce restructuring. The developments leave investors weighing faster enterprise adoption against pressure on near-term growth and staffing.
AI targets move higher
In its third-quarter release dated October 28, ServiceNow said subscription revenue rose 21 percent year over year to 3.988 billion US dollars for the quarter ended September 30. The company lifted its 2026 AI annual contract value target to 1.7 billion US dollars and raised its full-year free-cash-flow margin target to 36 percent.
ServiceNow also guided to fourth-quarter subscription revenue of 4.245 billion to 4.255 billion US dollars and constant-currency cRPO growth of 18.5 percent. That outlook puts contract conversion and customer deployment speed at the center of the next earnings debate.
Restructuring adds a second test
A Yahoo Finance report on Friday, November 6, said ServiceNow had launched another global layoff round affecting employees in the United Kingdom, the United States and India. The report said third-quarter severance reached 87 million US dollars and first-nine-month severance 167 million US dollars, compared with 24 million and 53 million US dollars, respectively, a year earlier.
Management has linked slower hiring to AI-related efficiency gains. For investors, the potential margin benefit must be balanced against the need to keep subscription growth and cRPO momentum intact.
