Singtel's data-center arm Nxera and Sembcorp Industries signed a memorandum of understanding on November 5, 2026, to explore renewable and low-carbon energy supplies for Nxera's Singapore facilities. The Tech Capital reported the agreement, which adds an energy-sourcing element to Singtel's artificial-intelligence infrastructure strategy.

Nxera expands its energy options

The companies will assess hydrogen, biomethane, solar power and imported renewable energy. The review is aimed at supporting Nxera's growing data-center operations in Singapore, where reliable electricity supply is a central requirement for high-density computing capacity.

The MoU does not set out a binding supply contract or a confirmed investment amount. It establishes a framework for examining several power sources as Nxera develops its regional data-center platform. For Singtel investors, the initiative connects future capacity growth with the availability, cost and emissions profile of the electricity used to operate those sites.

AI infrastructure remains strategic focus

Nxera is part of Singtel's broader push into digital infrastructure and artificial-intelligence services. Lower-carbon power could help the business address energy requirements as demand for data-center capacity rises, while the evaluation of several supply routes leaves the eventual mix open.
