- The LINE MAN capital increase was shifted to January 2027, while SoftBank expects only a minimal effect on current-fiscal-year results.

SoftBank Group faced a tougher financing backdrop during the week as investors questioned the profitability and funding needs of its artificial-intelligence investments. The Edge Malaysia reported on Friday, November 6, that the group's five-year credit-default swap spread reached 466 basis points, its widest level since October 2022, as concerns about AI infrastructure growth spread through markets.
The report linked the pressure to SoftBank's USD 64.6 billion investment in OpenAI, its 90 percent holding in Arm and financing for data-center development through SB Energy. It also said investors were watching the timing of potential exits and the ability of AI-related assets to generate returns.
Capital increase moves into 2027
SoftBank Group also faced an execution delay in its LINE MAN investment. The planned capital increase of USD 130 million for 12,428,298 new shares was moved from the end of October 2026 to the end of January 2027 because additional coordination among the contracting parties was required. SoftBank expects the timing change to have a minimal effect on consolidated results for the current fiscal year because LINE MAN is already consolidated through LY Corporation.
For investors, the revised timetable adds another near-term item to the financing discussion without representing a cancellation of the transaction. The next scheduled earnings update on Tuesday, November 10, will be the main opportunity to assess SoftBank's funding plans, leverage and exposure to AI-related assets.
