- Strategy reported record third-quarter operating income driven by a digital-asset gain.
- Revenue declined year over year despite the sharp increase in reported profit.
- Phong Le will oversee finance temporarily before Reza Virasteh becomes CFO on January 1, 2027.
Strategy reported record third-quarter results on October 29, while Chief Financial Officer Andrew Kang's planned departure takes effect on Thursday, November 5. The company said Kang will remain as an adviser through December 31. Strategy's release is available from Strategy.
For the three months ended September 30, Strategy posted operating income of 20.91 billion US dollars, compared with 3.89 billion US dollars a year earlier. Net income reached 19.53 billion US dollars, or 44.75 US dollars per diluted share, versus 2.79 billion US dollars and 8.42 US dollars in the prior-year quarter.
Bitcoin Gain Drives Earnings
The operating result included a 20.91 billion US dollar gain on digital assets. The scale of that gain means the reported profit primarily reflects the accounting impact of Bitcoin holdings rather than a comparable expansion of the software business.
Revenue fell 3 percent year over year to 125.4 million US dollars from 128.7 million US dollars. Gross profit was 89.6 million US dollars, producing a 71 percent gross margin, compared with 90.7 million US dollars and a 70 percent margin in the third quarter of 2025.
Strategy stock traded at 125.27 euros on Lang & Schwarz at 14:46 CET on Thursday, November 5, 2026.
From Friday, November 6, President and Chief Executive Officer Phong Le will serve as principal financial officer and lead the finance organization during the transition. Reza Virasteh, currently executive vice president of operations, is scheduled to become executive vice president and chief financial officer on January 1, 2027, while continuing as co-principal financial officer alongside Le. Strategy said Kang's resignation was for personal reasons and was not related to a disagreement over the company's operations, policies or practices.
Investors therefore face two separate signals: exceptional reported earnings supported by the revaluation of digital assets, and weaker year-over-year software revenue alongside a change in finance leadership. The next scheduled transition milestone is the handover of interim finance responsibilities on November 6, followed by Virasteh's appointment at the start of 2027.
