- Stryker's third-quarter sales rose 7.7 percent to 6.52 billion US dollars, while reported net earnings fell 12.3 percent.
- Adjusted diluted earnings per share increased 10.3 percent to 3.52 US dollars, supported by a wider adjusted operating margin.
- Management expects fourth-quarter performance to remain solid but reduced its full-year organic growth and adjusted earnings targets.
Stryker reported third-quarter results on Thursday, October 29, 2026, with sales growth and adjusted earnings gains offset by weaker reported profit and a reduced full-year outlook. The medical-technology company said performance fell short of its expectations, although management maintained that underlying business fundamentals remain strong.
According to the Nasdaq-published release, third-quarter net sales increased 7.7 percent year over year to 6.52 billion US dollars. Organic sales also grew 7.7 percent, driven primarily by higher unit volume. MedSurg and Neurotechnology sales advanced 9.2 percent, while Orthopaedics sales increased 5.7 percent.
Reported profit weakens, adjusted margin expands
Reported net earnings declined 12.3 percent to 753 million US dollars, and diluted earnings per share fell 11.7 percent to 1.96 US dollars. The quarter included a 293 million US dollar goodwill impairment, which weighed on reported operating results.
On an adjusted basis, net earnings rose 10.1 percent to 1.4 billion US dollars and adjusted diluted earnings per share increased 10.3 percent to 3.52 US dollars. The adjusted operating income margin expanded by 60 basis points to 26.2 percent, compared with a reported operating margin of 15.9 percent. The difference underscores the effect of special items on the quarter's statutory figures.
Guidance reset puts focus on execution
Stryker now expects full-year 2026 organic net sales growth of 6.5 to 7.0 percent and adjusted diluted earnings per share of 14.80 to 14.90 US dollars. The company said its sales outlook includes a modestly positive pricing contribution and that foreign exchange could provide a slight benefit if rates remain near current levels.
The revised targets leave investors focused on whether the company can sustain adjusted margin gains while restoring stronger procedure and commercial momentum. Chief Executive Kevin A. Lobo said Stryker expects a solid fourth quarter and good momentum heading into 2027.
